Modern Dental Crowns for Tooth Protection

A dental crown is a protective covering for a tooth. Also called “caps,” dental crowns fit over the tooth and are bonded into place to restore the tooth function and appearance. Dental crowns can be made from a variety of materials, from metals like silver and gold to ceramic or porcelain. In the past, a physical mold was made of the tooth and then sent to a dental lab to create the dental crown. Now, there are more efficient options available to create dental crowns the same day, without the uncomfortable mold process.

At Hollon and Taylor Dental Mobile, we have the CEREC technology to design and create same day dental crowns onsite. We can use our 3D imaging to create a digital mold of the tooth and use our 3D printer to create the crown while you wait. This eliminates the need to create a temporary crown and a second visit to take off the temporary crown and add the permanent dental crown.
